Application for voluntary membership in the Norwegian Social Security System

NAV – Voluntary membership form

Filled out – all I need is a signature now and I am all set for this part!

Apparantly – according to the NAV utland person I spoke with:

In other words – there is no need to apply but you should still do it – just in case! This is because there is no JOINT registry in the Norwegian Social Security system. If you get ill while in the US and need benefits, it is much faster if it is actually registered in the system that you are in the US and that you are entitled to endowments – that way the NAV workers do not have to do that work!
