In 1911, that vision became reality with the founding of Solvang (sunny field in Danish), a 9000+ acre enclave in the verdant Santa Ynez Valley just 125 miles north of Los Angeles and about 40 minutes over the mountains from Santa Barbara. Solvang is known as the“Danish Capital of America” and it truly was a magical place as we visited it today with the Norwegian family from Tromsoe!
The kids had a blast, and the parents too! The place was a quaint as can be, and it was all in character! all the stores were in the same style, and the language was consistently in Danish or English and they were very proud of their heritage!
Here are pictures from the trip today!
