Williams last soccer game with Santa Barbara Soccer Club is coming up!
This weekend is Williams last game with the Santa Barbara Soccer Club. It has been a great year – with a lot of work and a lot of practices and a LOT of traveling to games! And they have unfortunatly lost a lot too. They came in third in the league this fall, which was pretty good, and they did pretty great actaully! As did William – he played a lot and scored a lot. After Christmas, though, the entire team had a down turn and spiraled into a bad habit of not scoring and letting in too many goals. But William has had fun, and has made some of…
Soccer Team Potluck today!
today was such fun! We started with a game at 9:30 am which we won 4-0 and where William scored goal number 2, a beautiful goal and we were all very proud of him! We then had Williams friend from the team over, and we hung out at home for a while, before going out to eat at Mesa Cafe (our new favorite hang out), and then going to Helenes house to swim with her two boys! After I had cooked what I was to bring to the soccer potluck (while at Helens, because we had our cleaning lady over all day so I had to use her kitchen), we…
UCSB soccer game; All club soccer night before!
Santa BArbara Soccer Club had its fall All Club Soccer Night, with a bar-b-que, games, raffles etc at the UCSB Harder Stadium, right before a UCSB Gauchos game against Virginia, which we ended up winning 2-0! It was great fun! We only saw the first half, because the children were tired and William had a game today so we had to get up early! It was great fun though and the kids had a blast, as did I!
Williams soccer tournament this weekend!
So – we had barely landed before William had his first soccer practice! This was a rough start, but William had a blast and the boys were really nice and welcoming – taking care of him and making sure he felt welcome to the team. So he had three days of practice – two hours each – before he had a day off (when he did surfing) before there were two days of games. The first day they had two games, and they unfortunately lost both – and I dare say they never had much of a chance in either game! They met really tough competition. William played some –…
Back from California Pizza Kitchen!
Today we went to the California Pizza Kitchen in Paseo Nuevo in Santa Barbara! The gig was a fundraising event for the red team U11 boys soccer! Of the money we spent, 20% went directly to the team, which means we both ate well and contributed to the team account! The good news is, the food was great! We really enjoyed it and the kids had a blast. There were painted pizza boxes on all the walls and the kids were in awe at how cool they were! Here are some pictures:
Tax and Social Security taken care of!
The letters have been copied, signed and sent so now all I have left to do is my VISA application – the DS-160 (non-immigrant visa application) https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ – that I started yesterday. The pictures are a mess – pretty difficult even for me to figure out what they really want – so this afternoon when I get home I will have a photoshoot with Arild and the kids (not the oldest since he already is a US citizen) and finish off the application process! I am also waiting for money from my scholarship so that I can pay the deposit on the house and pay for the soccer club as…
Day 4 in Santa Barbara
Day four was a calm day after a rough night when I in panic ordered a room for two nights at a hotel because I was freaked out about being the only adult in a house in the woods far from everyone. This morning we washed and dried clothes and I packed everything before William informed me that he was *not* going to a hotel but staying in the house. After almost an hour on the phone with Hilton we finally agreed that though I could not cancel the room I could re-book it for august when we are coming back (and it is costing an arm and a leg…
Day 3 – TUESDAY in Santa Barbara
A wonderful sunny day as usual, in Santa Barbara, and William and I had a blast! We had a late start, I went jogging way too late – at 9 am – and almost died from it – apparantly you should never jog after 7:30 am! After jogging, we went to have lunch at Chili´s – our always fabulous and favorite lunch place in the US! After this, we went to Borders – which was going out of business in Santa Barbara – YAY – supersale -and NAY – I love Borders and dont want it not to be here when we move here… Ended up buying books for 100…

Soccer teams for my boys…
OK – so getting the kids on a soccer team was a bigger challenge than I expected – William is going to have to come with me to the US when I go to Santa Barbara in the beginning of May to TRY OUT for the team LOL That means he might actually not even make the team *biting my nails*! http://www.santabarbarasc.org/Teams/bu10white/index_E.html – this is the team he is going to try out for (or the red one – I know they are divided based on experience and skill). The teams have already been taken out by tryouts in March and April, but they were willing to save a spot…
